The Pilot Project in Norway is Gaining Attention

In Hurdal in Norway, a cliff over 80 meters long is currently being dug up. Large logs, with their roots on, are piled neatly and decoratively towards the river. The new riverbank will protect against further erosion by using a nature-based solution developed in Scotland and tested in Iceland, among other places.

- There is a great need to protect against erosion in the municipalities, especially due to increased rainfall and climate adaptation, and we have seen that there are problems with the traditional methods where concrete and stones have been used. The steering group for the water area Hurdalsvassdraget/Vorma (Huvo) has therefore wanted a nature-based solution for erosion control in Norway, and we are glad, that we are participating in this national method testing. From the level of the water areas, we can bring local conditions into the method testing, which, together with the regional and national level, gives the method testing good conditions for a holistic assessment, the mayor of Nannestad, Hans Thue, tells Eidsvoll Ullensaker Blad.
