NetworkNature has a new Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB)! Six members are helping enrich NetworkNature activities' quality and validity, by providing guidance, constructive feedback and expertise on relevant themes and by complementing the consortium’s capacities. Thanks to their various fields of expertise, SAB members support NetworkNature to find answers to knowledge gaps around Nature-based Solutions, as well as promoting the integration of NbS across their respective policy sectors. As such, they fully contribute to spreading NBS knowledge in a transdisciplinary manner. By seating in the SAB, they also contribute to further expand NetworkNature’s outreach efforts with their own members and networks.
Meet the new NetworkNature SAB members:
- The International Federation of Landscape Architects - IFLA Europe
A previous NetworkNature SAB member, IFLA Europe gathers 34 members and represents more than 20.000 landscape architects across the continent. It specifically addresses European landscape architectural educational and professional issues. Thanks to its presence within the SAB, NetworkNature connects with a wide audience of infrastructure planners and developers. Daniela Micanovic is the Executive Secretary of IFLA Europe and represents the federation within NetworkNature SAB. - The European Landowner’s Organization - ELO
A previous NetworkNature SAB member, ELO is a federation representing the interests of landowners, land managers and rural entrepreneurs across Europe. Thanks to its presence within the SAB, NetworkNature connects with a wide audience of natural resources managers and landowners. Anne-Sophie Mulier joined ELO as project coordinator in 2018. Her specialisation lies in spearheading EU-funded projects centred on nature conservation on private lands and crafting tools to empower landowners in their conservation endeavours. She also proudly represents the network of individual landowners within the European Conservation Landowners’ Coalition (CLC). - The European Environmental Bureau - EEB
A new SAB member, EEB gathers over 185 environmental citizen’s organisations in more than 41 countries across the continent, representing some 30 million individual members and supporters. EEB main activities include advocacy at the European level for a better environment. Thanks to its presence within the SAB, NetworkNature connects with a wide audience of civil society representatives. Frederik Hafen works on environmental law and democracy. He focuses on the rights guaranteed by the Aarhus Convention, access to environmental information, participation in decision-making, and access to justice. His work also covers environmental criminal and civil liability. Prior to joining the EEB, he was the Policy Advisor in the cabinet of European Ombudsman, Emily O’Reilly. He completed traineeships in a law firm and the European Parliament. - The Urban Agenda for the EU
A new SAB member, the Urban Agenda for the EU represents an innovative multi-level working method, for urban policy and practice, promoting cooperation between the European Commission, Member States, municipalities, and other stakeholders. Its three areas of work cover funding, regulation and knowledge activities in order to fulfil the targets set by the EU regarding urban areas. Thanks to its presence within the SAB, NetworkNature connects with a wide audience of subnational, national and EU policymakers. Marino Cavallo acts as co-coordinator of the Greening Cities Partnership, under the Urban Agenda for the EU. He worked for over 20 years in Local and Territorial Authorities in Italy and is now Head of the Department Research, Innovation and Management of EU Projects in the Metropolitan City of Bologna. He is also Adjunct professor in the University of Bologna and University of Ferrara. He delivered courses in Business administration, Economy, Sociology, Communication methodologies. Liviu Bailesteanu acts as co-coordinator of the Greening Cities Partnership, under the Urban Agenda for the EU. He has been working at the Romanian Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration since 2008. In 2017 he became Director of the Policy and Strategy Directorate, being responsible, among other things, for informal cooperation in the areas of territorial cohesion and urban development, as well as for ensuring the national strategic framework for these areas. - The Network of European Museum Organisations - NEMO
A new SAB member, NEMO is a federation of European museum organisations, gathering 161 members across 38 countries in Europe. Main activities include advocacy work, engaging in different kinds of co-operations, sharing information and learnings as well as offering training opportunities. Thanks to its presence within the SAB, NetworkNature connects with a wide audience of educators, education institutions and students. Julia Pagel serves as NEMO Secretary General. Before starting to work for NEMO, Julia worked as project manager at the German Museums Association. Julia was member and Vice-President of the Executive Committee of Culture Action Europe, a major European culture umbrella network. Since 2019 she is a member of the EU Commission Expert Group on Cultural Heritage and since 2021 she is Advisory Board member of Europeana. - The Inter-American Development Bank - IDB
A new SAB member, IDB is the main source of development financing for Latin America and the Caribbean. With 48 member countries, the IDB provides financial and technical support to national and sub-national governments and other entities in the region and conducts cutting-edge research. Thanks to its presence within the SAB, NetworkNature connects with a wide audience of Nature-based Solutions entrepreneurs and investors. Dr. Raul Munoz Castillo is leading several regional agendas such as the WEF Nexus and Water Security Initiatives at the IDB, which entails pilot research projects and infrastructure design operations in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region. He is also leading the Water Funds Program, the Bank’s flagship project on green infrastructure and Nature-based Solutions, the Water Security Agenda and the Bank’s Initiative for Transboundary and International Waters.
