If you are a frequent visitor to the NetworkNature platform, we probably don’t need to convince you that Nature-based solutions (NbS) are a key tool for climate change adaptation, mitigation, and halting biodiversity loss. What you may need, though, are additional case studies showing what NbS look like in action in a variety of ecological, geographic, and political contexts.

That is where resources such as the new report Nature-based solutions: Lessons from European and Chinese case studies come in. Written and reviewed by experts working in Europe and China, this resource  compares NbS interventions in China and Europe and outlines current trends in EU-China research and innovation. Case studies explore NbS on land, in water, in urban areas, as well as financing mechanisms. Each case study category is illustrated by an example from Europe and from China. The main take away? “Data that clearly demonstrates the impact of NbS projects on the economy, human health and the environment are essential to promoting the uptake of NbS by governments and the private sector.”

The report closes with a list of recommendations for international experts, negotiators, and influencers. Read the report to learn more about how you can help meet the “on-going need to promote nature-based solutions that can address global priorities, including the objectives of the Paris Agreement on climate change, the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the Sustainable Development Goals.”
