Nature based Solutions (NbS) for Landslide Risk Management

In recent years, Naturebased Solutions (NbS) for landslide risk mitigation have become a popular measure and are being effectively used in many Asian countries as a cost effective and an environmentallyfriendly solution. The policy brief summarizes the background, advantages, application aspects, and major challenges of NbS application for landslide risk management and suggestions for overcoming those challenges. It aims to create awareness and knowledge dissemination on NbS for landslide risk mitigation. This Policy Brief is an output of the Nature Based Landslide Risk Management Project implemented by the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO), Sri Lanka with technical support from the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC). The project was funded by the World Bank under their Analytics and Advisory Services project in Sri Lanka on Nature Based Landslide Risk Management.
