In a context of constantly increasing levels of urbanization throughout the world, the aim of this article is to address that challenge with new urban planning solutions. Nature-based solutions (NbS) are amongst the newest concepts for tackling today's urban challenges and are expected to contribute to urban planning in EU countries by means of delivering multiple environmental, social and economic benefits.
