Description: 

The project “Urban gardens development” in Banja Luka started in 2019, and continued in 2020. under COVID 19 situation. The Government of Banja Luka city recognized need for active engagement of people in sustainable public land use aimed to improve household’s income, and encourage people for active participation in local initiatives. City of Banja Luka allocated public agricultural land located in Rakovačke bare for the realization of project “Urban gardens development”. Main purpose is to encourage people to produce their own food, cultivate agricultural land and develop urban agriculture that would benefit local people, particularly people with disabilities. This project as social responsible is well accepted by local people, where 56 gardens are already cultivated on 0,5 ha of 1 ha of total area that has been provided for this purpose.
