This article gathers the knowledge from four European projects to gather a common understanding of NbS and facilitate its mainstreaming with regards to ecosystem services and urban challenges. It emphasizes that the NbS community (research, public and private sector) need to speak the same NbS language in order to further facilitate the knowledge transfer, replication and the engagement of civil society and thus promote a real change in the way citizens perceive the relevance of NbS for making their cities more resilient. This article has gathered 32 NbS and lists them into two categories: NbS Unit: Solutions that are single and complete technology, whether used as an individual solution or part of a larger solution; NbS intervention: Solutions that are intervening in existing ecosystems and ensure the provision of a wide range of ecosystem services in cities.
