This article describes the beneficial, as well as harmful, aspects of biodiversity to human health in urban environments and discusses the importance of exposure and experience of biodiversity for attaining health effects and develop a research agenda to quantify health benefits and unravel the specific causal mechanisms through which biodiversity affects human health. This study attempts to present a mechanism to understand pathways linking biodiversity to human health to facilitate the application of Nature-based Solutions in public health and influence policy.
