On 26 February 2025 at 14:00 Bangkok time (8:00 Brussels), the Climate Conscious Cities: Urban-Act Webinar Series will host its first webinar of 2025 – “Nature-based Solutions for Hot Cities”.
In 2024, the world experienced its hottest year on record, leaving cities struggling with extreme urban heat, especially in regions like Asia and the Pacific, where vulnerable populations are most affected. As temperatures rise, innovative and sustainable solutions are crucial to building climate resilience and improving urban living conditions. Biodiversity, through nature-based solutions (NBS), offers a powerful yet underutilized approach to combat urban heat. By integrating green infrastructure into city planning, NBS can cool urban areas, improve air quality, reduce energy consumption, and address broader challenges like water management, social equity, and public health.
In this webinar, attendees will explore the latest research, practical applications, and policy frameworks that leverage biodiversity as a transformative tool for cooling cities, enhancing urban resilience, and supporting sustainable socioeconomic development. The discussion will feature thought leaders, urban planners, and environmental experts who will share insights into innovative strategies and successful case studies from Asia and the Pacific.
Join the webinar to learn from expert speakers as they uncover how cities can build on their existing natural resources and biodiversity to design nature-based approaches that drive the bold and inclusive climate action needed to thrive in a rapidly warming world.
Wednesday 26 February 2025 14:00 – 15:00 (Bangkok time) / 8:00 - 9:00 (Brussels time)
