The objective of Eau Concert 2 project is to restore and protect cross-border aquatic ecosystems, and to enforce ecosystemic systems, that’s means services offered by natural environment to humans (foods, sanitarian, economical). A particular attention will be bringing on the conservation of biodiversity, ecological corridors and the adaptation to climate changes.
The cooperation on cooperative participative governance of fluvial ecosystems of rivers in France and Italy is based on Rivers Contract instrument, which constitute a working method for the negotiated management and shared hydraulic resources at watershed level.
Actions engaged under Eau Concert 2 allows to capitalize and go further in the experience started with the first Eau Concert project under the precedent ALCOTRA (2007-2013), on the participative method, the rising of awareness, Rivers Contract management but also for the operational phase.
Eau Concert 2 project is bettering thanks to the sharing of new practices and new instruments of information between French and Italians, enlarging its target public to youth, thorough actions of participation and raising awareness.Eau Concert 2 project plan three groups of activities:
• Local concertation and shared definition of actions, thorough the implication of local communities in order to define an Action Plan of the Rivers Contract of the Dora Baltea. A common rising awareness is also prevented for schools, universities and economic actors on the risk of pollution of the Cheran.
• Valorisation and safeguard of riversides and fluvial ecosystems, thorough the formation of local technicians for the maintenance and the conservation of the territory, the management and the fight against invasive species along the Dora Baltera thanks to the organisation of 5 construction site, it’s also prevented to evaluate the economical value of the ecosystemic services coming from the activities of management and the over watching of waters and fluvial ecosystem of the Chéran.
• Activites and instrument of communication, thorough actions of diffusion (Journal of the Dora Baltea and the Chéran, newsletter, events, press communicates, etc…)
The main results expected for the project are:
• Amelioration of fluvial ecosystems thorough instruments of collaborative management.
• The development of new practices of rising awareness and of communication instruments.
• The development of innovative actions of formation, of following, restoration and promotion of aquatics ecosystems.
• A new cooperation based on methodologies and good practices for the elaborations and the development of Rivers Contracts.
