Nature-based solutions can play a key role in curbing biodiversity loss and adapting to, or even mitigating the impacts of climate change - next to creating jobs, increasing quality of life and health and creating public space. Yet, NbS are still often planned only by environmental or green departments without much consideration or integration by other municipal departments. Illustrated by examples from across the world, we will explore essential ingredients to mainstream nature-based solutions across municipal departments and across sectors to contribute to the goals of the post-2020 GBF. We will also show practical planning tools, which can be aligned with policy goals, as well as inspiring on-the-ground NbS projects. This COP15 session will take place at the Subnational Pavilion, organised by NetworkNature, European Commission and CLEVER Cities.
