Making school grounds greener can contribute to increasing climate resilience and improving health and education outcomes, especially for those most impacted by systems of inequity and environmental injustices. However, barriers to creating green school grounds at scale persist.

How can such barriers be overcome? What successful examples are available from around the world?

To answer these questions, Children & Nature Network, in partnership with Salzburg Global Seminarthe International School Grounds Alliance, International Union for the Conservation of Nature, #NatureForAll, and the National League of Cities Institute for Youth, Education and Families, have launched an 18-month project to identify and disseminate successful approaches to school ground greening.

The launch event, to be held online on 17th November, is an opportunity for interested parties to:

  • learn more about the concept and benefits of green school grounds,
  • learn more about and be part of the co-creation process for the next stages of the project, and
  • connect with like-minded individuals and organizations working in a holistic manner on climate change and resilience, education, equity, and health.

This online launch event is open to anyone interested and active in improving climate resilience, biodiversity, urban design, education, child-development, health and wellbeing, and community-building.
