A very engaging event focused on present and future teachers and teacher trainers in Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) education is on the way! On 29th of May 2024 University of Thessaly (UTH), partner in NBS Academy, is organising an international workshop on ‘Collaborative Learning Communities in NBS: Building up an International Community of Practice‘.

What is the purpose of this workshop?

To bring together stakeholders involved in various stages of teacher education to discuss strategies for
creating a more collaborative and comprehensive approach to teacher education on NBS. The
information learned in this workshop will be used to further support the endeavours of building Collaborative Learning Communities (CLCs) between ITE (Initial Teacher Education) and CPD (Continuous Professional Development) providers as well as pre-service and in-service teacher educators. These communities will be the driving force for transforming NBS Academy into a Community of Practice where the previous groups in collaboration with other stakeholders (e.g., NBS experts) will be involved in the process of learning, collaborating, sharing and promoting NBS in teacher education.

Through this workshop teachers & teacher educators at all career stages will have the opportunity to:

  1. learn more about NBS Acadmey project, its objectives & mission to NBS Education
  2. engage in fruitful discussions about the meaning, opportunities & challenges when collaborative learning as also to share ideas & examples from your experience on how to build a collaborative learning community on NBS (Session 1)
  3. participate in team buidling activity & reflective practical exercise

The participation of any interested teachers & teacher trainers in this workshop will help them deepening their understanding of the challenges and needs to address the existing disconnect between ITE & CPD and strengthen their interconnection, in order to create the continuity that is important to teacher development. Active engagement and contribution from all attendees are strongly encouraged!

You can take part in our workshop through our registration form where you are more than welcome to share your opinion about the connection of Teacher Education with NBS education as well as your expectations & benefits you would like to gain from participating in the workshop.
