Caucasus Hub

The Caucasus Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Hub, the result of cooperation and co-creation by H2020 ConnectingNature.eu project partners from Armenia and Georgia, is a collaborative platform that brings together researchers, policymakers, businesses, and the public sector to promote the implementation and mainstreaming of NbS in the Caucasus region.

The kick-off meeting took place on October 8, 2019, at the National Parliamentary Library in Tbilisi, Georgia. This Hub was kickstarted with a series of UrbanByNature webinars to foster knowledge exchange and capacity building among stakeholders.

The Caucasus NbS Hub operates within the framework of the UrbanByNature program, coordinated by ICLEI-European Secretariat, and the NetworkNature project, supported by IUCN. This initiative emphasizes creating long-lasting structures for NbS uptake, fostering collaboration across sectors, and addressing climatic, geographic, ecological, political, and economic contexts specific to the region.

Key partners in the creation of the Caucasus NbS Hub include the Center for Ecological-Noosphere Studies CENS of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and the GIS and RS Consulting Center GeoGraphic LLC from Georgia. These organizations have been instrumental in co-developing the Caucasus NbS Hub, contributing their expertise and resources to advance the adoption of nature-based solutions in the Caucasus, setting an excellent model to replicate elsewhere.

The Hub's activities include organizing webinars and workshops that facilitate the sharing of best practices, innovative projects, and success stories among stakeholders. These events help in strategizing future goals, addressing challenges, and exploring opportunities for regional collaboration.
