About NBS4Drought

Project Objectives

1. Set up co-creation processes on wetlands for drought mitigation in all SCs by co-design, co-monitoring, and co-evaluation of NBS considering the needs identified by stakeholders, policymakers, and residents.

2. Demonstrate cost-effective wetlands as resilient solutions to present and future extreme drought events in different contexts (urban, peri-urban, rural) within various bioclimatic areas of Europe.

3. Strengthen the resilience to drought using NBS by adopting a comprehensive modelling approach, understanding the drought risk perception as a key element of drought risk management.

4. Create tools to facilitate the replication and upscaling of NBS to mitigate the impacts of droughts. To achieve this.

5. Disseminate, exploit and communicate the project's actions to key stakeholders and the general public, raising awareness of the crucial role of implementing wetlands as effective NBS for drought mitigation, and enhancing implementation of EU policies, especially those related to water management and climate adaptation.
