NetworkNature is creating an illustrated dictionary for terms related to nature-based solutions. Our goal is to create a list of terms with clear definitions that are accurate yet easy to translate. This will help those new to NbS understand the importance of these interventions and concepts, and how NbS can impact their lives and communities.
We are contracting with a talented illustrator to do this work and you can see the first illustrated terms here. We are looking for excellent terms from your fields that also deserve to be defined. Each illustration costs around 300 euros. Any projects that fund one or more definitions will have their logo added to this resource. The resource will be part of a deliverable: a communications toolkit for local and regional authorities.
No multimedia funding for your project? No problem! We will review all terms, and attempt to identify funds for any important terms for which your project cannot finance the illustration.
Example definition: Food security refers to a set of circumstances in which all people have access to enough safe and nutritious food to have a healthy life. Food security can be strengthened through NbS that can transform food systems to work in harmony with nature, reversing biodiversity loss while sustaining productivity.
