Methods for assessing risk reduction and co-benefits by nature-based solutions

This deliverable from the Naturance project examines how Nature-based Solutions (NbS) can support disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation, alongside delivering co-benefits relevant to insurance and investment. It reviews existing assessment methods and identifies key gaps, including limited data, scale mismatches, and the lack of standardised approaches.

The report highlights that these limitations constrain NbS investment and scaling, and outlines next steps to improve modelling and economic valuation tools through applied testing and stakeholder engagement.
