Resource description:
This document shows how large-scale coastal ecosystem restoration through Nature-based Solutions (NbS) can support climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and biodiversity goals. It highlights the importance of blue carbon ecosystems for carbon storage and coastal protection, while assessing how they are reflected in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The report identifies gaps and opportunities to better integrate coastal restoration into climate policy, including improved targets, monitoring, and financing mechanisms. It concludes that strengthening the role of NbS in NDCs is key to meeting global climate objectives. The report is relevant for policy makers at the national scale
