Project Objectives
- Plant the seeds for community-based transformative adaptation in a collaborative exploration and planning proces
- Test, demonstrate and prepare the scale-up of innovative, multifunctional and place-based CCA solutions through community-driven interventions for accelerating adaptation capacity to CC risks
- Catalyse resources and knowledge to support informed and well-grounded climate transition in RRA territories
Methods
- Establish regional stakeholder groups to actively involve local communities
- Develop regional climate risk profiles and visions by combining scientific data and local knowledge
- Identifying and selecting climate adaptation solutions, and testing specific solutions in project demonstrators
- Use digital tools and decision-support systems to support climate change adaptation planning
- Facilitate replication of successful solutions between demonstrator and replicator regions, promoting the scaling of effective climate adaptation practices across Europe
Barriers
- Lack of access to climate data and technical expertise at local level
- Limited institutional and communication capacity in rural regions
- Resistance to change in local decision-making processes
- Governance fragmentation across administrative levels
