Coast-Scapes
Coast-Scapes seeks to develop and transfer climate resilient solutions, often discussed but seldom implemented in a systemic manner, for the land-coast-sea continuum, demonstrating co-benefits across: a) socioeconomic sectors (including the fourth); b) geographical domains (land to sea); c) temporal scales (short to long). By combining Core Pilots -CP- to demonstrate and implement systemic solutions, Replicating Pilots -RP- to export resilience plans (without implementation) and Transfer Pilots -TP- to prove the scalability of the approach, Coast-Scapes supposes a quantum leap for climate resilience.
The proposed solutions, sequenced to look for synergies under present and future climate challenges (e.g., pollution, habitat degradation or job loss), align land-to-sea adaptation with climate mitigation, targeting a proactive risk reduction. Coast-Scapes overarching aim is to bridge the climate resilience deficit with resilience-through-adaptation plans that reduce climate risks and enhance welfare, with a seldom applied land-to-sea systemic approach. These plans are fully aligned with the EU call work programme topics (in italics), where resilience-through-adaptation will contribute to adapt to climate change in a more systemic way to protect people and prosperity.
Within this overarching aim, Coast-Scapes has 6 specific objectives associated with six connected work packages (WPs) for an efficient achievement of resilience building blocks (measurable milestones) and tangible gains (verified deliverables).
Membership Criteria
The project operates through an established consortium and is not open to the public. However, the project’s Region and Communities Board (RCBoard) is open to relevant regional authorities, community representatives, and other stakeholders who wish to engage with and contribute to the project’s activities.
