This year's NetworkNature Annual Event – "Choose Nature: Unlocking pathways to a resilient economy for people and the planet" took place on 16 September 2025, both online and in-person in Brussels, Belgium. It gathered more than 445 participants from 34 countries, including policymakers, local authorities, researchers, infrastructure planners, investors and nature-based entrepreneurs, educators, artists, and civil society, with over half representing EU-funded projects.
The event explored how restoring nature can strengthen competitiveness, reduce climate risk and support long-term economic stability, at a moment when EU priorities increasingly emphasise economic resilience. Across four thematic sessions – choosing to work with and for nature, to trust nature and people, to invest in nature, and to partner with nature – speakers from research, policy, finance and business shared case studies, evidence and initiatives on building a nature-positive economy. The event also hosted the exhibition "Why Choose Nature? / Why Do We Care?", gathering around 100 reasons for working with nature, and marked the launch of the NbS Business Forum.
