The NetworkNature Knowledge Gaps Database is a living resource that compiles research and innovation needs related to Nature-based Solutions (NbS). It brings together knowledge gaps identified through scientific reviews, institutional reports, and other grey literature to support researchers, practitioners, funders, and policymakers in identifying priorities for future action.
The 2026 update includes 443 aggregated knowledge gaps supported by 946 unique citations, covering literature published up to March 2026. Knowledge gaps can be explored through multiple classifications, including the four action areas of the European Research and Innovation Roadmap on NbS (Data, Implementation, Policy, and Engagement), Societal Challenges, Ecosystems, NbS Types, Scales and a wide range of keywords.
The database is designed as a collaborative and evolving resource. Registered users can contribute new knowledge gaps and comment on existing entries.
