The NbS Italy Hub Week 2026 will take place in Bari (Italy) in July 2026 and will bring together researchers, public authorities, practitioners, and private sector representatives working on Nature-based Solutions (NbS). The event will focus on the role of NbS in addressing water-related challenges, including urban flooding, stormwater management, coastal resilience, and the integration of green and blue infrastructures in cities and territories.
The week will combine a high-level conference, field visits, and a training school dedicated to municipalities and practitioners interested in implementing NbS in real-world contexts.
The programme will be structured as follows:
6 July – NbS Italy Hub internal meeting
A working meeting of the NbS Italy Hub members to review ongoing activities, discuss strategic priorities, and strengthen collaboration within the national NbS community.
7 July – NbS Italy Hub Annual Conference
A full-day conference bringing together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders to discuss the role of Nature-based Solutions in addressing water-related challenges. The programme will include keynote talks, thematic sessions, and interactive discussions focusing on urban water management, coastal resilience, green infrastructure, and enabling frameworks for NbS implementation.
8 July – Field tour: NbS in practice
Participants will visit four case studies showcasing Nature-based Solutions implemented in the Apulia region. The tour will highlight practical approaches to coastal management, urban green infrastructure, and nature-based strategies for stormwater regulation and flood mitigation.
9–10 July – NbS School
A training programme aimed primarily at representatives from municipalities, public administrations, and organisations involved in urban and territorial planning. The school will provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge, explore practical tools for NbS implementation, and discuss governance, financing, and planning strategies with experts and practitioners.
By bringing together different communities working on NbS across Europe, the NbS Italy Hub Week aims to strengthen collaboration, share practical experiences, and support the scaling up of Nature-based Solutions for climate resilience and sustainable development.
