On 7-8 July in Rennes, the temperature reached almost 37 degrees Celsius, a situation once rare becoming recurrent as the impacts of global warming intensify. On 7-8 July was also the date selected by the Life Artisan project to hold its final conference on climate change adaptation and nature.
Gathering more than 500 members from the French NbS community (and beyond), the event was an occasion to celebrate achievements from the Life Artisan project, which vastly contributed to raising capacity on NbS in France. The project also announced the launch of a citizen MOOC on Nature-based Solutions, contributing to dissemination on NbS among the general public. The final year of the project will be focused on disseminating their outputs and consolidating the NbS community through the active collaboration with the French NbS Hub.
The event mixed a dense agenda of workshops, plenaries, serious games, and pitches, spanning the whole spectrum of NbS. One could only be impressed by the quality of interventions, and the wealth of expertise on NbS slowly moving lines of traditional infrastructure and planning.
In the perspective of the ‘life after LIFE’, NetworkNature, represented by Laure-Lou Tremblay from the IEEP, was invited in the closing plenary to present opportunities for the French NbS community to engage in the broader European network and engage with other like-minded initiatives and projects.
