Webinar

The MULTISOURCE project is thrilled to announce its upcoming webinar, “Gender & Water Governance,” set to take place on 18 March 2025, from 11:00 to 12:30 CET. This free, online event will delve into the critical yet often overlooked role of gender in urban water governance and Nature-Based Solutions (NbS).

As cities strive to become more sustainable and resilient, integrating a gender perspective into urban planning and Nature-based Solutions (NbS) is essential for achieving equitable outcomes. This Multisource project webinar, “Integrating Gender Perspective in Nature-based Solutions for Sustainable Cities,” will explore how addressing gender dynamics can enhance the effectiveness, inclusivity, and sustainability of NbS initiatives. By incorporating diverse experiences and needs, these solutions can contribute to creating safer, more accessible, and thriving urban environments for all.

MULTISOURCE is an EU-funded project that aims at facilitating the systematic, city-wide planning of nature-based solutions for urban water treatment, storage, and reuse. With seven technical pilots across Europe and USA, a wide range of urban waters will be explored throughout the project, while decision support tools are being co-designed together with local, national, and international stakeholders.

Bringing together a diverse panel of experts, practitioners, and policymakers, this webinar will provide a platform to discuss key opportunities and challenges in integrating gender perspectives into urban resilience strategies. Participants will have the opportunity to explore practical approaches, learn from real-world experiences, and engage in dialogue on how inclusive NbS can contribute to building cities that are not only sustainable but also equitable for all.

Rationale

The intersection of gender and sustainability has emerged as a pivotal topic in advancing equitable and inclusive approaches to urban development. This webinar seeks to highlight the critical role of integrating gender perspectives into the design, implementation, and governance of Nature-based Solutions for sustainable cities. By doing so, we aim to ensure that the benefits of NbS are equitably distributed and that diverse voices contribute to shaping resilient and inclusive urban environments.
